Hundreds of Riders Rev Up Holiday Spirit at 35th Annual Wayne County Toy Run

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Hundreds of motorcycles filled the Berkeley Mall parking lot Sunday afternoon as riders from across the region came together for the American Legion Riders Post 11 35th Annual Wayne County Toy Run — and warmer-than-normal temperatures made it a perfect day for a ride.

The event kicked off at noon with kickstands up at 2 p.m., drawing long lines of bikes and spectators as participants rode in support of children and families in need during the upcoming holiday season.

Motorcyclists departed from Berkeley Mall and traveled along a designated route through Goldsboro and surrounding areas. Temporary road closures and rolling delays were reported along Berkeley Boulevard, Ash Street, Center Street, New Hope Road, Patetown Road, and U.S. 117 South as law enforcement helped riders pass safely through each intersection. Officials said the brief closures were managed smoothly and without incident.

Riders were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or a $10 donation. Proceeds from this year’s Toy Run will support Wayne Uplift Domestic Violence Center, the Boys & Girls Club of Wayne County, and local families facing hardship this holiday season.

Following the ride, participants gathered at American Legion Post 11 on S. U.S. Alt Hwy 117 for food, fellowship, and an afternoon celebrating the community’s generosity.

Organizers say this year’s turnout was one of the strongest yet, continuing a 35-year tradition of helping brighten the holidays for Wayne County children.
