Rex Allen Mooring Jr., 46, of Fremont went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, October 31, 2025 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Rex, better known as Champ and Sexy Rexy, was born in Wilson County on March 5, 1979 to the late Rex Allen Mooring Sr. and Alice Barnes Mooring. He was a member of Lucama Church of God. He loved his church, his family and always enjoyed being outside, especially raising chickens. Rex also enjoyed his spending his mornings with friends at Mr. RB Crawford’s Store. He always had a joke to tell everyone and filling the atmosphere with humor. There was never a dull moment being around him. Rex truly will be missed by all.
Cherishing his memories is his wife, Sandra Williams Mooring; two sons, Clifton Martin Schneider and Clark Jay Schneider (Leah Davis) of Erwin; three sisters, Angela “Angie” Talton and husband, Brandon of Goldsboro, Melissa James and husband, Gary of Fremont and Denise Smith and husband, Benji of Pikeville; one grandson, Bentley Jay Schneider; nieces and nephews, Nikki Perry (Josh), Brandon James (Alex), Derek Mooring (Breana), Abby James (Canon); great nieces and nephews, Kaileigh Daughtry, Kylen Allen, Ozzy James, Cooper James and Leland James and other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home, 102 N. Pine Street in Fremont. The family will greet friends immediately following the service and other times at 121 Pinkney Court in Fremont. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
