John Leon Wyatt, age 84, of Charlotte, NC, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 28, 2025 in Goldsboro, NC.
Born on July 25, 1941, John lived a rich and joyful life grounded in faith, love, music, and family. His love for Jesus guided every step of his journey, and he was a devoted member over the years of Faith Church in Goldsboro, Trinity Baptist Church in Asheville and Northside Baptist Church in Charlotte. His faith was evident in his music, his kindness, and the way he served others.
In 2000, John married the love of his life, Sharon “Rose” Wyatt, whom he affectionately called his “sweetheart.” Together they shared a beautiful love story, filled with laughter, music, and countless adventures in their beloved campers, “Bambi” and “Minnie.” Whether at the beach or in the mountains, John and Sharon found joy in every mile they traveled together—always with their faithful dogs by their side.
In his younger years, John was an original member of the beach music band “The Catalinas” of Charlotte, NC. His passion for music continued throughout his life, and he used his God-given talent as a guitarist to minister in the many churches he served.
A hardworking and self-employed salesman for many years, John traveled the Carolinas building friendships and sharing stories along the way. His career provided him and his sweetheart the opportunity to live a life of adventure, meeting new people and creating lifelong memories wherever they went.
To his grandchildren, John was affectionately known as “Pawpaw.” He will always be remembered for his silly stories, fishing trips, shell and shark tooth hunts, bike rides, ice cream outings, and long hammock swings. His laughter, love, and warmth will remain in their hearts forever.
John is survived by his loving wife, Sharon “Rose”; his sons, Johnny Jr., Robbie, and Chris; brothers, Charles, Tony, and Rodger; brother-in-law, John, “second children” Jamie and Charlie and his treasured grandchildren, Blaise, Pearl, Kain, Eli, Milyah, Macie, Serenity, and Hudson, and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Lyonell and Lucy Wyatt; his sister, Pat and husband, Charlie; his sister, Alice and husband, Julian and his sister, Sally. John’s life was a song of faith, love, and joy—one that will continue to play in the hearts of all who knew him.
