GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Outgoing Wayne County Coach Adam Pate said he wanted to return the Post 11 baseball program in Wayne County to normalcy when he took over as head coach in 2018.
Most would say he did a lot more than that.
199 wins, 3 State Title Appearances and a state title would certainly validate that claim.
Post 11 would come just outs away from a state title in 2023 and missed an appearance in the 2024 American Legion World Series by an even closer margin.
Pate also said he’s extremely proud of the number of Post 11 players that have gone on to play at the college level.
With a growing family and the day to day responsibilities as Director of ECA(Eastern North Carolina’s Only Baseball Academy), Pate said it was time to pass the bataan.
And pass it he did! Former Post 11 Alum and former UMO assistant coach Jackson Massey has now assumed duties as Post 11 Head Coach. Massey was a part of the 2008 Championship Team at Mount Olive. Massey was also the head coach at North Lenoir and spent time at Southern Wayne and Goldsboro as well.
