Willard Ray Smith, 76, passed away at ECU Health Medical Center on Thursday, October 23, 2025. Born in Wayne County on September 11, 1949, he was the son of the late Willard and Ruth Smith.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Johnson Smith; son, Brian Smith; and brother, Anthony Smith.

Ray is survived by his children, Angie Cianfarra and husband, Nick; Amanda Garcia and husband, Omar, and Mike Moore and wife, Aimee; grandchildren, Justin Cianfarra, Isabella Garcia, Lily Garcia, Sophia Garcia, Lucas Garcia, Christian Moore, Trey Daughtry, and Briley Smith; great-grandchildren, Declan Cianfarra and Jensen Cianfarra; sister, Annie Capps; and brother, Larry Smith. Ray is also survived by his special feline friend, Toby.

Ray was a hardworking man who spent many years on the road as a truck driver, providing for his family with dedication and pride. Known for his strong work ethic and kind heart, Ray was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need.

In his spare time, Ray enjoyed woodworking and took great joy in creating things with his hands. He also loved spending quiet days fishing, appreciating the simple beauty of life.

A time of visitation to celebrate Ray’s life will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Seymour Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
