GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Wayne Community College will open its doors to area high school seniors next month for an informational event designed to showcase academic pathways and career opportunities available at the institution.
The college’s annual Senior Night is scheduled for Thursday, November 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wayne Learning Center, the main building on campus located near the front flag poles.
The event will allow prospective students to explore various academic programs, including those leading to immediate career placement and pathways for transfer to four-year universities. Representatives from financial aid and scholarship offices will be on hand to guide students and their families through the admission and financial assistance application processes.
Enhanced STEM Component
This year’s Senior Night will feature an expanded emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education. WCC faculty members from the math and science departments will conduct hands-on STEM activities at each academic program area, demonstrating the practical applications of these disciplines across different fields of study.
Local business representatives will also participate in the event, sharing insights on how STEM concepts are applied within their companies and industries. This collaboration aims to help students understand the real-world relevance of STEM education in their future careers.
The enhanced STEM programming is supported by a $1,500 Fall 2025 STEM Outreach Grant from the STEM East Network, an educational initiative operated by the NC East Alliance.
