United Way of Wayne County Announces Return of Nonprofit Council

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County and the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce have announced a new collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening the nonprofit sector through the launch of a Nonprofit Council, providing a dedicated platform for local nonprofit organizations to connect, collaborate, and grow together.

The first Nonprofit Council meeting will be hosted by United Way of Wayne County on Tuesday, November 19, 2025, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. at the United Way office, 309 N. William Street. The following session will be hosted by the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce in May 2026.

Each Nonprofit Council meeting will serve as a networking and collaboration forum where local nonprofit leaders can share updates, identify opportunities, and address challenges collectively. The council represents a return to a previously successful initiative, reinstituted in response to community feedback.

“Wayne County is home to an incredible network of nonprofits, each doing important work to improve lives and strengthen our community,” said Sherry Archibald, Executive Director of United Way of Wayne County. “Through this partnership with the Chamber, we aim to create a stronger sense of collaboration, communication, and shared purpose among local organizations.”

Todd Walker, President and CEO of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the natural alignment between the council and the Chamber’s broader mission. “The Nonprofit Council is a natural extension of our mission to connect and empower leaders across all sectors,” Walker said. “Together with United Way, we’re providing a consistent space for nonprofit voices to be heard and supported.”

The partnership between United Way and the Chamber of Commerce ensures regular meeting opportunities throughout the year, with each organization alternating as host. This structure aims to provide sustained support and consistency for Wayne County’s nonprofit community.

Local nonprofit representatives are encouraged to attend and participate in shaping the direction of the council. Registration is available through the United Way website at:
