Local school among 25 nationwide finalists competing for major stadium upgrade and tech enhancements

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Rosewood High School has been selected as one of 25 finalists in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights contest, a nationwide competition designed to support rural high school football programs through technology upgrades and community investment.

The contest, which drew applications from small-town schools across the country, asked participants to share their stories and demonstrate community support. Out of all entries, Rosewood High School earned a coveted finalist position, automatically securing $25,000 for the program.

Now, the competition enters its public voting phase, where community members can help determine which school receives the grand prize. The winning school will be awarded a comprehensive package valued at over $1 million, including a complete stadium or field upgrade, advanced technology and 5G enhancements, a GronkFitness weight room transformation, and a community celebration to unveil the improvements.

Friday Night 5G Lights aims to shine a spotlight on high schools in smaller communities, recognizing that football programs in these areas often face resource challenges compared to their urban counterparts. The initiative combines cutting-edge technology with traditional community pride, offering schools an opportunity to modernize their facilities while celebrating their local spirit.
