Black Creek Road to Close for Railroad Crossing Repairs

Black Creek Road to Close for Railroad Crossing Repairs

WILSON, N.C. — Motorists in Wilson will need to find alternate routes next week as Carolina Coastal Railway prepares to conduct maintenance on a railroad crossing that will temporarily shut down Black Creek Road.

The railroad company plans to close the road beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, with work expected to continue through Oct. 17. The closure is necessary to perform routine maintenance on the railroad crossing.

Drivers who regularly use Black Creek Road should plan for additional travel time and use the designated detour route along Charleston Street Southeast and Stantonsburg Road Southeast.

Once Carolina Coastal Railway completes its crossing maintenance, state highway maintenance crews will follow up with resurfacing work. The state workers will restore any asphalt that may have been removed from the area between the road and the railroad tracks during the repair process.

Residents and commuters are advised to allow extra time for their travels and to follow all posted detour signs during the closure period.
