Rev. Gerald K. Stacy

Rev. Gerald K. Stacy

October 3, 2025, 76, Goldsboro —

Rev. Gerald Keith Stacy, 76, was called home to Heaven on October 3, 2025. Born on May 6, 1949, in Richlands, Virginia, Gerald was the son of the late Fayne E. Stacy, Sr. and Gladys Madeline “Gaye” Crouse.

Gerald graduated from Richlands Senior High School before pursuing his calling to ministry. He earned a certificate in ministry from the Christian College of Georgia in 1971 and a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia in 1972. He was ordained into the ministry on June 12, 1977, at First Christian Church of Richlands, his home church. He later completed a Master of Divinity degree from Lexington Theological Seminary in 1979.

Gerald’s ministry began even as a student, serving at Bogart Christian Church (GA), Taylorsville Christian Church (KY), and Sharpsburg Christian Church (KY). His calling led to a full-time pastoral ministry spanning more than 40 years. He faithfully shepherded congregations across Virginia, including Pearisburg Christian Church, Radford Christian Church, Doe Run Christian Church, Colonial Place Christian Church, and finally returning home to serve at First Christian Church in Richlands.

In 2006, Gerald and his wife, Sandy, moved to La Grange, North Carolina, where they ministered together at La Grange Christian Church until his retirement in 2020.

For Gerald, ministry was a sacred responsibility. He poured his heart into every sermon, spending his week in thoughtful preparation so that his Sunday message would be a reflection of God’s love. A natural shepherd, he cared deeply for his congregations, making every effort to visit and connect personally with members, treating them as extended family. Known for his gentle spirit, fairness, and compassion, Gerald left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His life was a true testament to putting God first, evident through his roles as a devoted husband, pastor, and friend to many.

Outside the pulpit, Gerald found joy and peace on the golf course. Whether playing a full round or just practicing his swing in an open field, the game brought him a welcomed sense of relaxation. He especially enjoyed bringing his clubs on annual trips to Camp Caroline, where he shared rounds with fellow church members.

A service of love and remembrance will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at La Grange Christian Church, with Rev. Ronnie V. Hobgood officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date at Greenhills Memory Gardens in Pounding Mill, Virginia.

Gerald is survived by his beloved wife and ministry partner, Sandra K. Stacy; his brother, F.E. Stacy, Jr. and wife, Darlene; nephews Christopher Stacy, Steven Stacy and wife Maria, and Bryan Coleman and wife Kristen; great-nieces and nephews Elijah Stacy, Indalea Gallegos and husband Dino, Isabella, Lily, and Cian Coleman.

He is also survived by a daughter, Lucinda Boardwine, and her husband Jay, along with their children, Krista and Gabriel; and a son, John Mark Stacy.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerald’s honor to La Grange Christian Church, PO Box 442, La Grange, NC 28551. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
