Randy Peele Fields

October 5, 2025, 73, Goldsboro —

Randy Peele Fields, 73, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at UNC Wayne Healthcare in Goldsboro. Born in Wayne County on August 8, 1952, Randy was the son of Rachel Peele Fields of Pikeville and the late William Blaney Fields. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Forrest Pope, and his lifelong friend, Dennis Collier.

Randy was a 1970 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and went on to earn his degree in Sociology from Atlantic Christian College. For many years, he farmed the land where he was raised before beginning a long career with Cooper-Standard in Goldsboro, where he retired after 40 years of dedicated service. Following his retirement, Randy devoted his time to caring for his beloved mother, ensuring she could remain in the comfort of her home as her health declined.

Randy’s faith was deeply rooted to Nahunta Friends Church. He made sure his mother could still enjoy Sunday services by watching them together each week, a cherished routine they shared.

Randy had a great love for golf and could often be found on the course sharing stories and laughs with friends. In his younger years, he played semi-pro baseball with the Pinkney Team, where he built lasting friendships with his teammates. He was also an avid fan of Carolina Basketball and could always be found cheering on his Tar Heels.

Family was at the heart of everything Randy did. He and his wife, Kathie, were always present at every event their sons participated in, taking immense pride in their accomplishments. His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Randy and Kathie would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

A service to celebrate Randy’s life will be held by the graveside at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in the Fields Family Cemetery near the home. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the cemetery, and other times at the home of his mother. Randy will lie in state at Seymour Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

In addition to his mother, Randy is survived by his loving wife, Kathie Pittman Fields; his sons, Randall Fields and wife Leah, and Ryan Fields and wife Amanda; his cherished grandchildren, Abigail Fields, Alex Fields, Will Fields, and Teddy Fields; his sisters, Suzanne Pope and husband Greg, and Nina Jackson and husband Keith; and his nieces, Carmen Pope Stanley and husband Mark, and Rachel Jackson Woods and husband Colton.
