Local Students Shine at Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair

GOLDSBORO, N.C. – The Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair celebrated outstanding achievements from local students on Friday, September 26, 2025, with competitions highlighting both agricultural excellence and academic prowess.

Livestock Competitions Showcase Agricultural Talent

The fair’s livestock competitions drew impressive participation from young agricultural enthusiasts across the region, with both meat goat and market lamb shows highlighting exceptional skills.

Junior Meat Goat Show

Rylan Tew claimed the prestigious Grand Champion title in the Open Junior Meat Goat Show, while Grace Schratwieser earned Reserve Grand Champion honors. The showmanship competition demonstrated skills across multiple age groups, with Madison Nolette taking top honors in the Novice division for ages 3-7, Anderson Lee dominating the Junior division for ages 8-11, Lila Lee securing first place in the Intermediate category for ages 12-14, and Rylan Tew adding to their successful day by winning the Senior division for ages 15-18.

Junior Market Lamb Show

The Open Junior Market Lamb Show saw equally impressive competition, with Zade Jennings earning the Grand Champion title and Kendall Ayscue taking Reserve Grand Champion. In the showmanship categories, Karson Harris claimed victory in the Novice division for ages 3-7, while Kaylee Casper won the Junior division for ages 8-11. Ava James Kemp excelled in the Intermediate division for ages 12-14, and Caitlyn Anderson topped the Senior division for ages 15-18.

Math Competition Highlights Academic Excellence

The fair’s math competition featured strong representation from Wayne County schools, divided into two competitive divisions. In Division 1, Charles B. Aycock High School claimed first place, followed by Goldsboro High School in second and Rosewood High School in third.

Division 2 showcased the strength of specialized educational programs in the area. Wayne School of Technical Arts earned the top spot, with Wayne Early Middle College High School finishing second and Wayne School of Engineering rounding out the top three.

The Wayne Regional Agricultural Fair continues to serve as an important platform for celebrating both agricultural traditions and academic achievement in the community, bringing together students from across the region to showcase their talents and dedication.
