Sylvia “Sibbie” Burroughs Sasser, 72, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on September 9, 2025 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and creativity that will be cherished forever Born in Wayne County on August 6, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Hubert Burroughs and Angie Corbett Burroughs.
In addition to her parents, Sibbie was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Burroughs.
Sibbie is survived by her children, Ron Sasser and wife, Susan, Dustin Sasser and wife, Tiffany, and Derrick Sasser and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Stella Sasser, Ada Sasser, Scarlett Sasser, Finley Sasser, Addie Sasser, Anna Kate Sasser, Ivey Sasser, and Autumn Sasser; siblings, Jeanie Kunze and husband, Robert, Nick Burroughs and wife, Kim, and Clayton Corbett and wife, Betsy. Sibbie is also survived by several nieces and nephews, special niece, Tracy Riggs, and her little dog, Tootsie.
A devoted homemaker, Sibbie poured her heart into her home, finding joy in making every space warm, welcoming, and beautiful. Her love for decorating was evident in every carefully placed detail, and she had a special talent for crafting—creating wreaths, bows, and handmade treasures that reflected her creativity. A gifted seamstress, Sibbie could take any piece of fabric and turn it into something beautiful, stitching both garments and memories with care.
Sibbie had a special place in her heart for all creatures, big and small. Her love for animals knew no bounds, and she had a gentle way of connecting with them that spoke to her kind and compassionate nature.
Above all, Sibbie was a proud and loving mother to her three boys, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her heart truly shined when she spoke of her eight granddaughters, whom she adored beyond measure. She was their biggest cheerleader, and the bond they shared with her was unbreakable.
Known by all for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Sibbie had a way of making people laugh even in the hardest of times. Her warmth and laughter filled every room, and she leaves behind countless memories of joy and light-heartedness.
Sibbie’s legacy is one of love, strength, and grace. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Sibbie’s life will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Toler presiding. The family will receive friends following the service.
