Diane Steinmetz (Williams), age 92, of Surfside Beach, SC, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025 in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Born on June 7, 1933 in Easton, Pennsylvania, Diane lived a long and meaningful life marked by her devotion to her family and beloved husband of 55 years, her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and her enduring strength and joy through life’s many seasons. Diane was the daughter of George and Iona Williams. She graduated from Bangor High School as Valedictorian in 1951, and then from Kutztown Teachers College in 1955. Diane taught elementary school in Fairfax County, Virginia for 20 years.
Diane was the beloved wife of the late James H. Steinmetz, and the cherished mother and grandmother of the late James H. Steinmetz, Jr, and the late Joshua Steinmetz.
Her legacy continues through her daughter, Mary Beth Williams, and son-in-law Mike. She was a proud grandmother to Anne Michelle Feyer (Eric), John Williams (Whitney), James Williams, Patricia Barrow (Seth), and Jonathan Steinmetz. Diane also held a very special place in her heart for her great-grandchildren: Addisyn, Makenzie, and Brooklyn Feyer; Calloway and Lennon Williams; and Reese Barrow. She is also remembered with love by her sister, Susan Hebert (Tom), as well as nephews Stephen Berry (Melanie) and Curtis Berry.
Throughout her life, Diane remained closely connected to those she loved and was always a faithful presence in the lives of her beloved family. She never missed an event, holiday, or memorable occasion with her family. Diane had a love of teaching, reading and books, music, singing in the choir, playing piano, golf, birdwatching, and anything chocolate. Diane will be dearly missed, but the family rejoices that she is in the presence of her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband.
