GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Charles B. Aycock High School will officially open its new concession stand facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, September 12, at 5:30 p.m. at the school’s football stadium.
The long-awaited facility, located behind the school at the football stadium, represents the culmination of several years of planning and fundraising efforts by the school and its booster club. The project also includes the addition of new restroom facilities for stadium visitors.
The $641,250 project was made possible through a collaborative funding effort involving multiple sources. The school’s booster club contributed $100,000 through their fundraising initiatives, while the district provided $50,000 in capital funds. The largest portion of the funding, $491,250, was secured through grant funds made available by Rep. John Bell.
The new facilities are expected to enhance the game-day experience for students, families, and community members who attend athletic events at the stadium. The concession stand will provide improved food service capabilities, while the additional restrooms address a long-standing need for better visitor amenities.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will mark the official opening of the facility and celebrate the successful partnership between the school, booster club, district, and state representatives that made the project possible.
Charles B. Aycock High School has indicated that media outlets interested in covering the event should contact the
Ken Derksen, Executive Director for Community Engagement and Student & Family Support Wayne County Public Schools for additional details and coverage arrangements.
