August 13, 2025, 94, Goldsboro —
Rachel Jackson Mozingo, 94, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. Born in Wayne County on November 27, 1930, Rachel was the daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lloyd Hilton Mozingo; brothers, Russell Jackson and Thurman Jackson; and sisters, Doris Lewis, Elsie Hinson, and Elizabeth Collier.
A faithful servant of the Lord, Rachel was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church, where she joyfully used her gifts to serve others and share the love of Christ. She lived her faith in both word and deed, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion to God and family.
For many years, Rachel worked alongside her husband in owning and operating Farmer’s Cleaners in Goldsboro. She was not only a devoted business partner but also the heart of her home. Her family will always remember the clothing she lovingly sewed for them, ensuring they were dressed with care, and the many meals she prepared, drawing loved ones together around the table. A gifted seamstress, Rachel was especially known for the handmade blankets she created and freely shared with family and friends—a tangible expression of her warmth and love.
Rachel’s greatest joy was her family, whom she loved deeply and prayed for faithfully. She is survived by her children: Tillie Barnes and husband, Mac, of Roanoke, VA; Shelia Cobb and husband, Danny, of Pikeville; Hope Ham and husband, James, of Goldsboro; Wanda Winders and husband, Randy, of Pikeville; and Hilton Mozingo and wife, Renee, of Myrtle Beach, SC. She leaves behind a cherished legacy in her grandchildren: Christy Thompson (JT), Amanda Taylor (Keith), Megan Biggio (Tommy), Michelle Daniels (Michael), Jennifer Parks, Chelsey Witherspoon (Micah), Derrick Ham (Leanne), Scott Ham (Stephanie), Jeannine Williams (Sam), Natalie Gardner (Justin), and Brock Winders; her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Ryleigh, Bryson, Aven, Emer, Alan, Alanya, Parker, Mary Rachel, Mattie Hilt, Elizabeth, Dawson, Abby, Maddy, Annalyn, Austin, and Allie; and her great-great-grandchildren, Aycen and Aurora. She is also survived by her brother, Ernest Lee Jackson, and wife, Linda, along with many nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.
