Luby Clifton Hines, 173 L & D Lane of Goldsboro, died Sunday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice.

Graveside service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. A visitation with family and friends will be held prior in the chapel at Evergreen Memorial Service from 1:00PM- 2:00PM.

He was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Luby Colon Hines and Pearl Jones Hines. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Taylor Hines and brother, James Elbert Hines. Luby worked as a farmer, mechanic and welder in addition to being a retired US Army Sergent, a welder with AP Parts and was also a member of the National Guard. He was an active member of Unity Fellowship Church of Rosewood.

Surviving is his daughter Leann Hines Casey of Lucama, Sons; Steve Cogdell (Deidra) of Goldsboro and Mike Cogdell (Sharon) of Glen Allen, VA. Grandchildren; Scottie Casey, James Casey and Stephanie C. Johnson (Scott). Great-grandchildren; Landon McCullen, Maddox K. Johnson, Saylor J. Vieira (Nate), London C. Johnson and Urban R. Johnson. A sister, Jewel Hines Taylor along with special nieces Janet Kearns and Debbie Burrell as well as special friend, Donna S. Worley.
