Debra Ann Daughtry Young, 71, passed away at UNC Johnston Health on Sunday, August 10, 2025. She was born March 28, 1954 to the late Russell Fate Daughtry and Edna Florence Lee Daughtry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Troy Daughtry, Wayne Daughtry, and Dennis Daughtry and grandchildren, Nathan Simmons and Zach McLamb.
Debra loved life! Loving to travel, enjoying the beach, dancing and just plain having FUN created some of the fondest memories. Making “talking” an art form was at the top of her list. She never met a stranger-Debra loved people.
Her last job was working at the Four Oaks Elementary School where she loved all of the kids that come through the cafeteria line. The kids also loved her!
Her most precious possessions were her family. Loving her kids, grandkids and great grandkids brought so much joy into her life. Christmas time was her most favorite holiday of the year giving her an opportunity being with and enjoying her time with her family. She loved taking care of everyone!
Debra is survived by her daughters, Renee Whitfield (David) of Mt. Olive, Karen Raynor of Selma, Stephanie McLamb (Adam) of Newton Grove, Christy Andrews (Shaun) of Goldsboro, and Robin Aguirre of Grantham; brothers, Mike Daughtry (Sophronia) of Goldsboro and Larry Daughtry of Selma; grandchildren, Steven Whitfield (Kayla), Fantasy Raynor (Nevan), Tony Raynor, Jr. ( Harley), Haley Raynor, Jaden Andrews and Wyatt Andrews; great grandchildren, Chase Whitfield and Nevan Lane, Jr. and Steve “Jabo” Young, the father of her children.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations.
The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Casey Funeral Home and Cremations at 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025 with the Reverend Wayne Goff officiating. The committal will take place at the Selah Christian Church Cemetery, 1332 Selah Church Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524 at 11:00 am on Friday, August 15, 2025.
