August 1, 2025, 77, Goldsboro —

Dorothy Lou Pilkington Denning, 77, passed away on August 1, 2025 at UNC Johnston Health Care in Smithfield.  She was born on June 17, 1948 in Johnston County to the late Joseph Pilkington and Ada Williams Pilkington.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Denning was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Person Denning, and an infant daughter, Dorothy Gertrude Barbour.

Dorothy is survived by sons, Robert Louis Barbour, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Smithfield, Donald Ray Barbour and wife, Regina of West Virginia, Robert Earl Denning and wife, Connie of Willow Springs; daughters, Melissa Mooneyham and husband, Anthony of Clayton and Donna Denning of Illinois; sisters, Jean Delisle and Linda Roche; 8 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

There will be no formal funeral services at this time.
