Linwood Earl Grady

 August 3, 2025, 84, Goldsboro —

Linwood Earl Grady, 84, of Goldsboro, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and family, on August 3, 2025. His legacy of resilience, generosity, determination, strong work ethic, and a deep-rooted love for family and animals will live on in all who knew him.

Born on October 17, 1940, Linwood came into the world alongside his twin sister, to a single mother. Life was not easy in his early years, but those challenges shaped the husband, father, friend, and “Pa” he became to so many. Linwood never forgot where he came from, carried a heart for the underdog, and was always determined to provide a better life for his family. He often spoke with gratitude about the neighbors who helped him as a child and carried that spirit of giving with him throughout his life.

Linwood was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lois; his twin sister; and his brother. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands: Pam and Danny, Sheila and Mundo; his grandchildren: Danielle, Joshua, Gabrielle, Makayla, Selena, Yolanda, and Amber; and great-grandchildren: Alice, Alaina, Forest, and Adalyn. Each of them carries a piece of his wisdom, humor, and strength.

A skilled drywall contractor by trade, Linwood believed deeply in the value of a hard day’s work. He passed this ethic down to his grandchildren, along with lessons in self-defense, finances, dependability, and the joy of tending a vegetable garden. Nothing lit up his face more than seeing a child working the earth.

Linwood was known for his quiet generosity and big heart. He loved dogs, gardening, and sharing smiles with strangers—especially babies in grocery store aisles, to whom he often gifted a crisp dollar bill just to make them giggle.

One of Linwood’s favorite traditions was celebrating his birthday with a family pig pickin’ in the garage. He not only passed down the recipes and skills, but also a way for his loved ones to continue honoring his memory—with barbecue, stories, laughter, and family gathered close in the home he loved and built himself.

Linwood Earl Grady may have started life with little, but he built a life rich in the things that truly matter—love, hard work, compassion, and legacy. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August 6th at 6:00 PM at his home:

290 Salem Country Lane, Goldsboro, NC 27530

All who knew and loved Linwood are welcome to join us as we remember and celebrate the man he was.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care and unwavering support during Linwood’s final days. Their compassion brought comfort to both him and his loved ones, and we are deeply grateful.
