Charles Michael Vinyard, a man of unwavering faith and deep devotion to his family, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on August 3, 2025 at the age of 64. Born in LaFayette, Georgia, he was the son of Mary Ann Henry Driver and the late Charles William Vinyard.
In addition to his father, Charles is preceded in death by two grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Melinda Kearley Vinyard; his mother, Mary Ann Henry Driver, and husband, Kenneth; children, Keith Vinyard and wife, Brittany, and Ashley Jones and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Bentley, Cole, Wesley, and Ashlyn; siblings, Suzanne Mattingly, and Jeff Vinyard and wife, Melanie; and step-sisters, Carey Lane and husband, Matt, and Pam Watson and husband, Curtis. Charles is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Originally from Georgia, Charles carried his Southern roots with pride. He was a true fan of the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs football, cheering on his teams every season. He proudly served his country and retired from the United States Air Force, a commitment he held with great honor and pride. After his military service, Charles found joy in his love for automobiles. He worked in car sales and enjoyed a good car show. His friendly nature and love for people made him a natural salesman.
More than his hobbies or work, Charles was known for his deep love of Jesus. His faith was the foundation of his life and evident in every interaction. He was an active and devoted member of Oak Forest Church of Christ, where he worshipped, served, and formed lasting friendships.
Charles cherished time with his family above all. Whether he was joking with his grandkids or spending time with his children, he radiated warmth and love. A proud “mama’s boy,” he carried a deep respect for family that touched everyone around him. He was best friends with his dad while he was living and had a deep respect and love for his parents.
Charles leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and loyalty that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A service to celebrate Charles life will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 12 p.m. at Oak Forest Church of Christ. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Charles will be laid to rest at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery privately.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306 in memory of Charles.
