GOLDSBORO, N.C. — Goldsboro police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman who was found unresponsive during a welfare check Monday evening.
Incident Details
Officers with the Goldsboro Police Department responded to Central Heights Road at approximately 5:20 p.m. on July 21, 2025, following a report requesting a welfare check on a resident.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers working alongside Wayne County Emergency Medical Services discovered an unresponsive female. EMS personnel pronounced the woman deceased at the location.
Victim Identification
The deceased has been identified as Gareshia Joyner, a 36-year-old female resident.
Ongoing Investigation
The Goldsboro Police Department’s Investigative Services Bureau and Crime Scene Unit immediately responded to the scene to begin a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Joyner’s death.
Police officials stated they will not release additional details at this time out of respect for the ongoing investigative process and to ensure the accuracy of information provided to the public.
