Roy Turman Alphin II, resident of the Bethel Church community near Mount Olive, passed away early Friday morning, July 18, 2025, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
A graduate of North Duplin High School, Mr. Alphin had been employed in dry wall installation for most of his working career, though he had been a truck driver some of the while.
He is survived by his sisters, Kathryn Alphin Hines, Linda Alphin Walker, and Mary Eleanor Alphin Overman, all of the Mount Olive area; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was the youngest of four children and the only son of his late parents, Roy Turman Alphin and Mary Lou Vernon Alphin, both of whom passed away within minutes of one another in 1990.
A service at which to remember the life of Mr. Alphin will be Thursday, July 24, at 5:00 p.m. and will be held at Bethel Church where he attended in his young years and which was also the place of worship for his ancestors. Officiating will be Pastor Gene Hunt. Immediately following the service, the family will receive friends and relatives. A private interment will be in the Roy Alphin Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest that memorial gifts be made to Kitty Askins Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534, or to the charity of one’s choosing.
