July 10, 2025, 66, Goldsboro —-
Harry Ray Croom, 66, went to be with his Lord and Savior for his homecoming on Thursday, July 10, 2025. He was born in Lenoir County on March 30, 1959, to the late Major Lott Croom Jr. and Rena Kelly Croom.
Harry’s love for the open road led him to a fulfilling career as a truck driver. He found peace in the solitude of long drives, often accompanied by the classic ’70s music he had grown up with and cherished throughout his life.
Soft-spoken and genuinely kind, Harry was an instant friend to all who met him. He most enjoyed spending time with his friends, often gathering at local restaurants to share good food and even better company. Tuesdays were spent at El Nuevo Tequila for Taco Tuesday, and Sunday mornings were reserved for an early lunch at Two Dogs Pizza. On the days in between, you could find Harry and his friends visiting their favorite spots, with Bojangles always near the top of the list.
While the meals were a joy, it was the camaraderie and laughter that truly made those moments special.
A private graveside service will be held by the family at their family cemetery.
Harry is survived by his brothers: Samuel “Sam” Bryan Croom and wife, Janice; James “Jim” Franklin Croom and wife, Vicky; and Garry Lott Croom and wife, Elizabeth. He is also survived by his nieces, Amanda Wilmoth and husband, Joshua, and Samantha Harper and husband, Grayson; and his nephews, Garry Lott Croom Jr. and Matthew Croom.
