Dolores Kaye Radford, 78, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at UNC Wayne Health Care. A resident of Wayne County, Kaye was born on August 16, 1946, to the late G.H. “Ted” Radford and Dora Smith Radford.
A woman of quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering dedication, Kaye was a proud graduate of Brogden High School, Class of 1964. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina Wesleyan University in 1968 and later achieved her Master’s Degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1981.
Kaye devoted more than four decades of her life to public service, retiring from the County of Nash as a Social Work Program Administrator. Her career was marked by compassion, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of others.
Kaye was a devoted member of Brogden Church, where she found joy in worshiping alongside family and friends and nurturing her spiritual life through fellowship and service.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Carl Thompson; nieces, Karla Thompson (Jason) and Brooke T. Hales (Clint); great-nephews, Seth Thompson (Rachiel), Maddux Fry, Justice Sasser, and Hunter Sasser; and her beloved aunt, Sallie Swinton. The family also wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Robyn Sewell for her faithful friendship and compassionate care during Kaye’s later years.
A service to celebrate Kaye’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Glenn Pate officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kaye’s memory to Brogden Church, 2918 US Hwy. 117 South, Dudley, NC 28333.
