It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Erma Bridgers, who left this world peacefully on June 21, 2025 at the age of 89. Born on September 13, 1935, in Beaufort County, North Carolina, Erma carried the values of warmth, strength, and compassion from her coastal hometown throughout her life.

Erma later made her home in Mount Olive, North Carolina, where she built a beautiful and loving family. Her legacy of faith, devotion, and unconditional love is deeply rooted in the lives she nurtured and the community she served. Erma dedicated much of her life to caring for others through her work as a healthcare technician at O’Berry Hospital in Goldsboro. Prior to her dedication to O’Berry Hospital, she attended cosmetology school.  Her compassion and strong work ethic touched the lives of many. She retired after many years of faithful service, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and care for those most in need.

Erma was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Bridgers, and her dear brother, Fred Roberson. Left to cherish her memories are her loving children: Mal Jones (Glenn), Jewel Bridgers, and Keith Bridgers (Vivan), along with her grandchildren: Alexis Jones, Brooke Jones, Brandie Bridgers, and Julian. Erma was also the loving mother to her deceased daughter, Kathy Bridgers, whose memory remains in the hearts of those who loved her. She is survived by her loving sister, Johnnie Langley, and special cousin Marian Mills whose companionship and shared memories were a great comfort to her. In addition, Erma leaves behind many loving friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will cherish her memory and carry her spirit forward.

Throughout her life, Erma was known for her unwavering devotion to family. Her home was a sanctuary, filled with love, laughter, and a spirit of generosity. Whether through a comforting word, a home-cooked meal, or her simple presence, Erma’s love was felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The family will be welcoming visitors at 517 Morgan Trace Lane, Goldsboro, NC.

Erma’s memory will live on forever in the hearts of her family and friends. May she rest in peace, knowing her love will continue to guide those who knew her.
