Gwendolyn Marie Lee Fogle Hales, 86, passed away on Wednesday June 18, 2025. Born on December 3, 1938 in Washington D.C, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. Fogle and Annie Lee Fogle.
In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Ann Hatton.
Gwendolen is survived by her husband, Carl Hales; sister, Gail Rae Fogle; nephews, Willie Marvin Hales, David Wayne Hales, and Thomas Eugene Hales; and nieces, Marinda Diane Tsahakis, and Diane Wright.
Gwendolyn spent her career in the financial sector, where she served as a respected bank officer for many years. Her integrity, diligence, and commitment to excellence earned her the admiration of both colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of her professional life, Gwendolyn’s heart belonged to animals—especially dogs. She was a passionate and knowledgeable dog enthusiast, dedicating countless hours to raising, training, and showing her beloved cocker spaniels. Her devotion to the breed and the sport of dog showing led her to many accolades, most notably winning Best in World at a prestigious competition—an achievement that brought her immense pride and joy.
Gwendolyn’s kindness, sharp wit, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She is remembered not only for her professional accomplishments but for her generosity, her gentle spirit, and the deep love she showed to the animals and people in her life.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. and Kenly Funeral Service, followed by a graveside service at 2:15 p.m. at Kenly Cemetery.
