Joyce Marie Benton Peterson, 81, went to her eternal home Saturday morning, June 14, 2025 at Willow Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation in Goldsboro.

All services will be held privately.

Mrs. Peterson was born in Johnston County on November 6, 1943 to the late Alton and Cassie Jones Benton.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Sharon Denise Benton of Dudley; one brother, Carl Benton and wife, Renee of New York; two grandchildren, Derrick Benton and Ted Benton and one great-granddaughter, Sanai Benton.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Peterson; one brother, James Jimmy Benton and two sisters, Mae Gloria Benton and Lillie Georgiana Benton.
