Frontline First: Davis Pushes Bill to Boost Seymour Johnson and U.S. Air Power

GOLDSBORO, N.C. — U.S. Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) will hold a press conference on Wednesday, June 18, to announce the introduction of the Frontline Fighter Force First Act, a new piece of legislation aimed at strengthening support for Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and other active-duty military installations across the country.

The event will take place at 2:00 p.m. at Congressman Davis’s district office, located at 2803 Cashwell Drive, Suite B, Goldsboro, N.C.

The Frontline Fighter Force First Act seeks to recognize the critical role Seymour Johnson AFB has played in U.S. military operations and to ensure continued investment in the base’s infrastructure and aircraft. Specifically, the bill would prioritize funding for upgraded fighter jets at installations where combat squadrons are deployed at least 30 percent of the time—a category that includes Seymour Johnson.

Seymour Johnson is more than a base—it’s a strategic asset to our national defense, and the men and women who serve there deserve the tools and support to succeed in their missions,” Congressman Davis said in a prepared statement ahead of the event.

The legislation aims to reinforce America’s frontline air combat readiness while preserving the operational integrity of bases like Seymour Johnson, which houses key components of the Air Force’s fighter force.

Seymour Johnson AFB, home to the 4th Fighter Wing, has a long-standing history of excellence in military aviation and plays a pivotal role in training and deploying combat-ready airmen and aircraft. The proposed legislation is expected to garner support from defense advocates and local leaders who have long championed the base’s contributions to both national security and the Goldsboro community.

The press conference will provide further details on the legislative proposal, its potential impact, and the next steps for securing bipartisan support in Congress.
