Charles Gordon Johnson, 71, passed away at the Mt. Olive Center on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born in Wayne County on July 4, 1953, he was the son of the late Neil Chester Johnson and Mildred Bass Johnson.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Johnson; and fur babies, Ginger Johnson and Candy Johnson.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Christy Moore Johnson; daughter, Tammy Boyette and husband Mike; granddaughter, Jaz’lyn Moore-Parrish; step grandsons, Matt Boyette, Christopher Boyette and Bryan David Boyette; his siblings, Eric Johnson and wife, Gloria, Mary Kimes, and Lorraine Leibensperger and husband, Marc; and sister-in-law, June Johnson. Charles is also survived by two step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was a talented mechanic who truly knew his craft. He had a passion for old cars and antique farming equipment, and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. He loved spending time in the garage, getting his hands dirty and bringing machines back to life.

Outside of work, Charles enjoyed racing and fishing. Whether he was at the track or by the water, he was happiest doing what he loved. Charles will be missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and a deep love for engines and the outdoors.

The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro.
