Violent Domestic Attack Ends in Felony Arrest in Princeton

Wayne County —June 6, 2025 — A Wayne County man has been arrested and is facing a series of serious charges following a violent domestic incident that occurred late last week in Princeton.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 28-year-old Devin Michael Champion was taken into custody on May 30, 2025, after deputies responded to a report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Champion allegedly assaulting a female behind a residence while armed with a deadly weapon.

Champion was immediately arrested and transported to the Wayne County Jail, where he was formally charged with the following offenses:

  • First-Degree Kidnapping (Felony)
  • Felonious Restraint (Felony)
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (Felony)
  • Possession of a Weapon on Jail Premises (Felony)
  • Malicious Conduct by Prisoner (Felony)
  • Assault on a Government Official (Misdemeanor)
  • Assault on a Female (Misdemeanor)
  • Resisting a Public Officer (Misdemeanor)

Champion, described as a Black male, is being held under a secured bond of $4.2 million.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
