Goldsboro, N.C. — Wayne Community College’s Workforce Continuing Education Services honored the newest class of Allied Health graduates during a heartfelt pinning ceremony this spring. The event recognized 84 students who successfully completed programs in Nurse Aide I, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Technician, and Sterile Processing.
Each graduate received a ceremonial pin and certificate, symbolizing their transition from student to healthcare professional. For many, the ceremony marked not only an academic achievement but the beginning of a vital career in patient care and public health.
WCC President Dr. Patty Pfeiffer addressed the graduates, emphasizing the deeper meaning behind the tradition.
“This pinning ceremony is more than a tradition. It’s a symbol of your hard work, your resilience, and your unwavering dedication to improving the lives of others,” Pfeiffer said. “May this pin remind you always of the purpose, passion, and power you carry as healthcare providers.”
Several students earned their credentials while still in high school through WCC’s Career and College Promise dual-enrollment program, a testament to their early commitment to healthcare careers.
Graduates with the highest grade point average in each class were specially recognized:
- Nurse Aide I: Gracie Mooney, Sacoria Farmer, Keely Bush, Yenifer Gonzalez Osorio, Emely Perez-Perez, and Hannah Turnipseed
- Phlebotomy: Debra Dellacroce and Leslie Ramirez-Flores
- Pharmacy Technician: Benjamin Stovall
- Sterile Processing: Anna Gorgon
Renita Dawson, Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement, praised the class’s determination.
