Be the Change: Join United Way’s Day of Action on June 20

Goldsboro, N.C. — United Way of Wayne County is calling on residents to “Be the Change” during its annual Day of Action, set for June 20, 2025. The event offers a powerful opportunity for community members to roll up their sleeves, donate essential items, and engage in meaningful volunteer work.

Part of a global United Way initiative, Day of Action is a celebration of community service and civic engagement, with events and efforts taking place around the world on the same day. Locally, United Way of Wayne County invites individuals, businesses, and organizations to join hands for a day filled with hands-on projects, donation drives, and team-based volunteer activities.

How to Get Involved

1. Volunteer for Community Projects
United Way will offer a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. From assembling kits to helping with community cleanups, there’s a project for everyone. Sign up now at unitedwayne.org/dayofaction.

2. Donate Items to Support Collection Drives
Two major donation drives are underway:

  • Summer Fun Kits: Sidewalk chalk, jump ropes, mini bubble wands, fidget toys, multiplication cards, and Uno cards.
  • Hygiene Kits: Toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, bar soap, shampoo, and conditioner.

Donations will be accepted through June 16 at the United Way office located at 309 N. William St., Goldsboro.

3. Host or Join a Kitting Party
Gather your coworkers, friends, or community group to assemble care kits that will be distributed to those in need. These kits provide not only practical support but also a message of care and connection.

No time to shop? Donations can also be made online by scanning the QR code available on promotional materials or visiting the United Way website.
