Wayne County Cruises To 9-2 Win in Home Opener

Wayne County — behind great pitching and a ten hit attack rolled past Wake Forest Post 187 9-2 last night to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

Post 11 starter John Nelson McLamb(1-0) was almost perfect through 4, striking out 7 while not allowing a hit.

Relievers Sam Lopez and Braxton Toler would combine for 5 strikeouts in the 5th and 6th before closer Ayden West would need just 17 pitches to mop up in the 7th.

Post 11 would plate two in the 2nd inning with hits from Miles Hamm, Thad Parker and Chandler Hill. A Hamm triple to right would score Noah Price to make it 3-0 after 3.

Wayne County would extend the lead to 5-0 in the 4th behind a Baines Raynor double sandwiched between 3 Wake Forest fielding errors.

After leaving the bases loaded in the 5th, Wayne County would break things wide open in the 6th adding 4 insurance runs on hits by Price, Hamm, Parker, Connor Radford and Carson Tew.

Wake Forest would scratch 2 runs in their 6th but Toler would strike out the side to end the threat.

The Bells would toll in the 7th as West would send the crowd home happy in quick fashion striking out two.

Miles Hamm led the way going 3-4 with 2 Rbi, a stolen base and a homerun away from the cycle. Thad Parker would help pace the Post 11 offense with 2 hits and a rbi of his own.

Wayne County pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts, allowing 4 walks and only 2 hits.

Wayne County returns to action at home this Thursday at 7pm against Sampson County.
