New Support for Parents: Local Program Offers Community and Guidance for Families with Young Children

Goldsboro, N.C.The Partnership for Children of Wayne County is currently recruiting families to participate in its Parents as Teachers (PAT) program and is also inviting parents and caregivers of children ages 0-5 to join their ongoing Circle of Parents (COP) group. Both initiatives aim to provide support, education, and community to families navigating the joys and challenges of raising young children.

Circle of Parents: A Supportive Space for Parents

The Circle of Parents program offers a unique, peer-led environment for parents and caregivers to come together, share experiences, and receive guidance. Facilitated by trained leaders and driven by parents’ needs, this group provides a space to openly discuss the everyday challenges and triumphs of parenting young children.

Circle of Parents is open to families with children aged 0-5 years old and offers valuable support and understanding, helping parents realize they are not alone in their journey.

“It’s a place where parents can be themselves, share their stories, and find the encouragement and tools they need to thrive,” said Angela Frady, program coordinator. “Every parent faces challenges, and Circle of Parents provides the community and resources to help them grow.”

Parents as Teachers: Strengthening Families Through Early Education

Alongside Circle of Parents, the Parents as Teachers program continues to recruit families for ongoing participation. This evidence-based program focuses on providing parents with the tools and knowledge they need to support their child’s early development.

By partnering with trained educators, families in the PAT program receive personalized support to foster positive, early learning experiences that help children build a strong foundation for success.

“Our goal is to work hand-in-hand with families to support their child’s growth and development from birth to kindergarten,” said Brianna Martin, program facilitator. “We want parents to feel confident in their ability to nurture their child’s cognitive, emotional, and social growth at the most crucial time in their lives.”
