May 11, 2025, 86, Goldsboro —
Barbara Ann Mills McCullen, lovingly known as Ann, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025, at the age of 86, surrounded by the love and presence of her devoted family.
Born in Wayne County on April 29, 1939, Ann was the daughter of the late E.W. and Lyda Mills. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, John Gilbert “Tenny” McCullen, and her brothers Tony, Billy, Albert, and Jimmy Mills.
Ann dedicated her career to serving others as a secretary with the Wayne County Probation Office in Goldsboro.
A faithful member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, Ann joyfully used her time and talents to serve the Lord and her church family. Whether caring for the church grounds, preparing bereavement meals, or offering a helping hand in countless ways, she exemplified quiet grace and humble service. She cherished the fellowship of her Homemaker Sunday School Class and found deep purpose in the ministry of everyday kindness.
Ann’s greatest pride and joy came from her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila A. Massey and husband Kenneth; son, Clark McCullen; grandchildren, Tina Sticklen (C.J. Tynch) and Beth Magnus (Josh); great-grandchildren, James and Elizabeth Sticklen; and step great-grandchildren, Shawn Sticklen and Virginia Parker (Austin). Her legacy of love, faith, and service lives on through them.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. A service celebrating Ann’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by Rev. Robert Ellis. Interment will be at Wayne Memorial Park.
