Wayne County Students Honored at University of Mount Olive Awards Ceremony

Mount Olive, N.C. — A group of outstanding students from Wayne County were recently recognized at the University of Mount Olive’s Annual Awards Ceremony for their academic excellence, leadership, and contributions to both campus life and their chosen fields of study.

Among the honorees was Dillon Black of Goldsboro, who was named MBA Student of the Year. A senior majoring in Healthcare Management within the MBA program, Black earned the highest GPA among all eligible MBA graduates over the past academic year.

Catherine Anderson of La Grange received the Agribusiness Student of the Year award. Anderson, a senior Agriculture major, was recognized for her leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement.

Audrey Fleming of Goldsboro was named Animal Science Student of the Year. A Veterinary BioScience senior, Fleming stood out for her academic excellence and service to the animal science community.

Brianna Verme of Mount Olive was awarded the Lorelle F. Martin Science Award, a prestigious scholarship recognizing excellence in the biological sciences. Verme is a senior majoring in Biomedical Science.

Michelle Giroux of Goldsboro received the Justice Studies Outstanding Student Award. A senior Justice Studies major, Giroux was honored for her exceptional scholarship, research, and leadership in the classroom.

Abigail Ramski of Mount Olive earned the Outstanding Exercise Science Senior award. Ramski, a senior in RLS Exercise Science, demonstrated notable academic achievement and leadership within her field.

Chase Lambuth of Dudley was presented with the Outstanding Mathematics Major award. Lambuth, a senior, was selected by faculty for his excellence in mathematics.

Katelyn Gregory of Mount Olive received the W. Burkette Raper Religion Student of the Year award. A senior Christian Studies major, Gregory was honored for her academic performance and dedication to Christian ministry.

Jessica Ruiz-Castro of Mount Olive received the Senior Citizenship Cup. As a senior Art Education major, she was recognized for her outstanding citizenship and service throughout her academic career.

Catherine Summerlin of Mount Olive was named Psychology Student of the Year. A senior Psychology major, Summerlin was selected based on academic excellence, research, and commitment to the department.
