Indianapolis (May 1, 2025) – The University of Mount Olive baseball team has secured the No. 9 spot in the Southeast Region rankings, according to the first release of the NCAA Division II Baseball Committee’s regional poll announced Wednesday.
The rankings are pivotal in determining selections for the upcoming NCAA Division II Baseball Tournament. The Southeast Region includes programs from the Conference Carolinas (CC), South Atlantic Conference (SAC), and Peach Belt Conference (PBC). Each conference tournament winner receives an automatic bid, with four additional at-large bids awarded to the highest-ranked remaining teams.
Mount Olive, with a 29-19 overall record, currently holds the 10th-best RPI in the region and boasts the toughest strength of schedule among the ranked teams. Their position places them in strong contention for an at-large berth if they do not claim the Conference Carolinas tournament title.
Catawba, champions of the SAC regular season, top the regional rankings with a 36-12 record as they aim to return to the NCAA finals in Cary after winning the region in 2024. North Greenville follows at No. 2 with a 42-11 record and the region’s third-best RPI, while Lenoir-Rhyne (40-9) holds the third spot with the second-best RPI. Young Harris (37-13) and North Georgia (36-13) round out the top five.
Also included in the rankings are Belmont Abbey (34-14), Carson-Newman (35-15), UNC Pembroke (28-20), and Francis Marion (39-11).
All rankings and records are based on games played through Sunday, April 27.
The Trojans will look to strengthen their postseason case as the conference tournament approaches.
