Leonard Mark Newsome, 65, of Kenly, NC, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC. Born on September 8, 1959, in Wayne County to Lula Gurley Newsome and the late Leonard McCoy Newsome, Mark’s life was defined by his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, and his commitment to service.
Mark was a respected professional in the pharmaceutical industry for over 40 years and was the owner and operator of LMN Services Inc. He loved his employees and thought of them as family. His work ethic and passion for helping others left a lasting impact on those around him.
A lifelong believer, Mark was a member of Pike’s Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church. His faith and his involvement with C12, a Christian business owners’ group in Wilson, were important parts of his life, offering him a sense of community and camaraderie.
Mark had a love for the simple pleasures of life, particularly spending time on the water. Fishing and being out on the ocean brought him peace. His passion for fast, vintage cars was another of his great loves. However, it was with his family that Mark found his greatest joy. Above all, he cherished his role as a devoted husband, Deddy, and Papa. He took immense pride in watching his children and grandchildren grow, and they were the apples of his eye.
Mark is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Regina Hargrove Newsome; his daughter, Jessica “Jessi” Newsome Hoyle and her husband, Jason; his son, Jeremiah “Jeremy” David Newsome and his wife, Kelsey; and his cherished grandchildren, Noah Hoyle, Michaela Hoyle, and Henry McCoy Newsome. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Bradford and husband, Marion, and Lisa Mitchell and husband, Danny; his beloved nieces and nephews, Heather Rogers, Heidi Leonard, Dustin Mitchell, Dalton Mitchell, special niece, Katlyn Drew; and many great nieces and nephews that he loved very much.
Mark’s family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A service celebrating Mark’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Pike’s Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Pastor Charles Boyd officiating.
