Esther Marie Huffman Howell, 88, passed away peacefully at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born in Wayne County on November 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Huffman and Esther McCullen Huffman.

In addition to her parents, Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Howell; and son, Brent Howell.

Esther is survived by her children, Theresa “Terry” Lovings and husband, Barry, Linwood “Robbie” Howell and wife, Debbie, and Mark Howell, and wife, Bonnie; grandchildren, Valerie Lovings, Stephen Howell and wife, Stephanie, Brooke Jones and husband, Steven, and Cassie Grady and husband, Drew, and five great-grandchildren.

A graveside service to celebrate Esther’s life will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 3 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery with Andy Stovall presiding. The family will receive friends following the service and at other times at the home of Mark and Bonnie Howell.
