Betty Lee Washam, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, North Carolina surrounded by her family. Born in Graves County, Kentucky, on November 26, 1938, she was the daughter of the late H.C. and Armra Brooks Lee.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy K. Washam; her sister, Debra Lee; and her brothers, Larry Lee and Charlie Lee.

Betty dedicated much of her life to caring for others, serving as a nursing assistant at Wayne Memorial Hospital before transitioning into a secretarial role, where she worked for 12 years before retiring. Her compassionate spirit and kind nature left a lasting impact on those she worked with and cared for.

A faithful member of United In Christ Church, Betty found great joy in worshiping and praising her Lord. She also cherished her time at the Peggy Seegars Senior Center, where she formed many treasured friendships.

Betty had a passion for sewing and crocheting, creating countless cherished pieces for her family. Her children fondly remember the beautiful matching outfits she lovingly made for them in their younger years, as well as the many garments she crafted for herself.

She is survived by her sons: Kenny Washam (Lynnette), Terry Washam (Heidi), Donnie Washam (Barry), and Cliff Washam (Melissa); her grandchildren: Amanda Allison (Chuck), Jessica Washam, Tracy Pittman (Anthony), Tia Wilson (Mark), Trina Gant (Casey), Sterling Newsome, and Anthony Washam (Jennifer); and her great-grandchildren: Julia Allison, Allysa Allison, Bo Pipkin, Weston Pittman, Walker Pittman, Waylon Pittman, Hadley Gant, and Barrett Wilson.

She is also survived by her loving siblings: Weda Strickler, Wanda Denton (Jackie), Beverly Lee, Patty Pyle (Maurice), Vanda Hixon, Brenda Rasmussen (Albert), Stella Johnson, Danny Lee (Deanna) and Walter Lee (Beverly), as well as cherished friends and family members Judy Earp, Janie Barnes, Rachel Gwaltney, and Faye Phillips.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 31, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Interment will take place at Pikeville Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
