March 27, 2025, 89, Goldsboro —
Bethena Ann (Hollowell) Hunt, 89, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Pinellas Park, FL, surrounded by her children. Ann was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Born in Goldsboro, NC, on August 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Pauline (Porter) Hollowell, and stepdaughter to the late Albert Perkins.
Ann was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary C. Hunt; her sisters, LaVee Coone and Elaine Perkins; and her great-grandchildren Ryan and Madison Hunt.
Ann attended Atlantic Christian College where she earned her teaching certificate before moving to Baltimore, MD, for an elementary school teaching position, where she met Gary. Once married, she had little ones of her own and gave up teaching to be a full-time homemaker and attentive mother. With her love for flowers, she later worked at Dundalk Florist as a floral designer.
Ann converted to Catholicism and was a parishioner at St. Rita Church before moving to St. Petersburg, FL, following her husband’s death. Although not a member of a particular church, she found great joy and comfort in her well-worn Bible and devotionals.
For the last decade plus of her life, Ann was a resident of the Fountains of Pasadena where she made many friends and pursued her passion for painting and photography – earning ribbons and recognition for her work. Additionally, she found joy in visiting with her family, tending flowers, puzzles, reading, chairing the greeting card club, and participating in plays and other fun activities at the Fountains.
Ann is survived by her children: Jesse Hunt (Karen), Renee Rotondo (Giovanni), Christian Hunt (Dawn), and Steven Hunt (Kristin); her grandchildren: Justin Hunt (Crystal), Evan Svec, Amber Meyers (Jordan), Megan Svec, and Maddy Hunt; and her great-granddaughter: Betty Brandt. She is also survived by her loving brother Calvin Perkins (Judy) and beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service and interment at 11:30 a.m. at Neuse Friends Meeting House Cemetery on Blackjack Church Road. Flowers are most welcomed as Ann loved them so.
The Hunt family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the love, prayers and memorial tributes extended by all during this time of bereavement.
