Wiley Bruce Parker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on March 10, 2025 at the age of 85. Born on June 20, 1939, he was the son of the late, Vincent Parker and Cora Lee Parker.
In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Parker and Jack Parker.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Mary Campbell “Bunky” Parker; children, Alexandra Parker Redecker and husband, Marko, and Daniel Bruce Parker and wife, Rosemary McBryde Parker; grandchildren, Matthew Vincent Ragone, Daniel McBryde Parker, Nathaniel Stone Parker, Ian Cooper Scott and William Campbell Scott (Kaylee); mother of his children, Ursula Lancaster; and stepson Cooper Scott and wife, Susan. Bruce is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bruce proudly served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, specializing in fire protection, before continuing his dedication to public service as a member of the civil service for another 20 years, where he continued his work in fire protection. His commitment to keeping others safe reflected his character, and his service to both his country and community was a source of great pride.
In his personal life, Bruce was a man of many passions. He had a love for golf, finding joy on the course where he spent many hours, and could often be found relaxing with a good Western film. Above all, Bruce loved the Lord and was a faithful member of First Christian Church, where he served in numerous capacities. As a deacon, he played an integral role in the spiritual life of the church, and his contributions extended to serving on various committees and as a cherished member of the choir.
One of his greatest joys was cooking, particularly for the church’s annual BBQ dinner, where he was the head cook and a highlight of the event each year. Wiley’s love of cooking extended to his home, where he delighted in preparing meals for his family and friends.
Bruce leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and faithfulness that will be remembered by all who knew him. He was a man of integrity, always putting others first and living his life with a spirit of generosity and love.
A service to celebrate Bruce’s life will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Interment will be held at Willow Dale Cemetery.
