Jackie Lynn Starling, 68, passed away at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill on Monday, March 10, 2025. Born in Wayne County on December 8, 1956, he was the son of the Bessie Holt Starling and the late James “Jack” Edward Starling.
In addition to his father, Jackie is preceded in death by his brother, Rickie Starling; and niece, Laura Starling.
Jackie is survived by his wife, Peggy Starling; daughter, Shannon Starling; granddaughter, Mallory Johnson; brothers, Glen Starling and wife, Betty, and Wayne Starling and wife, Jean; nephews, Michael Starling and Josh Starling; and great nephews, Nate Starling, Grayson Starling and Braxton Starling
Jackie was a man of many passions, most notably his deep love for the outdoors. Whether it was the early morning calm on the lake or the thrill of the catch, fishing was more than a hobby for him – it was a way of life. He found peace and solace in the quiet moments spent by the water, reflecting on the beauty of God’s creation.
A devoted fan of music, Jackie was particularly fond of Motown. The soulful rhythms and timeless melodies of artists like Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye filled his home and his heart. Music was a constant companion in his life, bringing him comfort and joy through every season.
Jackie was also a dedicated member of the Gideons International, faithfully serving in the ministry of distributing God’s Word to those in need. His commitment to sharing the Gospel and his unwavering faith in the Lord were the cornerstones of his life. Jackie’s love for Christ was evident in everything he did, and he found joy in helping others discover the hope and peace that only He could offer.
A graveside service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends the evening prior, on March 12, 2025 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
