John “Johnny” Whitfield Sutton, Jr., 60, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 6, 2024 at his home. Johnny was born in Wayne County to Doris Jones Sutton and the late John Whitfield Sutton, Sr. on June 15, 1964.
Johnny was a man of immense strength and boundless love, known for his unmatched sense of humor. He had a remarkable ability to bring laughter and light to any room. Johnny’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren. His warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether sharing stories, offering guidance, or simply creating memories filled with laughter and love, he made every moment count. Johnny will be deeply missed and fondly remembered as a pillar of strength and a source of endless love.
In addition to his mother Doris Jones Sutton, Johnny is survived by his sons, Blake Daniel Sutton and wife, Katie Gurley Sutton and Jonathan Michael Sutton and wife, Lindsey Newman Sutton; daughter, Holly Elizabeth Sutton and significant other, Luke Jackson; his grandsons, Michael Joseph Sutton, Lucas Grey Sutton and Ayden Blake Sutton, granddaughter, Avery Kate Sutton; Johnny’s girlfriend, Peggy Gardner and her daughters, Brianna Daniels and Dana Daniels; and many close friends who were like family.
In addition to his father John “JW” Whitfield Sutton Sr., he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Gail Sutton, and several uncles and aunts.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. A private graveside service for the family will be held in Wayne Memorial Park with Reverend Anderson Barnes presiding.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or to Limbs for Life in Johnny’s name.
