Minister Malissia Harvey Hill

Minister Malissia Harvey Hill

August 3, 2024, 73, Goldsboro –

Minister Malissia Harvey Hill, 73 of Dudley, transitioned from earth to glory Saturday, August 3, 2024, in the arms of her beloved husband. Born in Duplin County on August 10, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Ben Frank Harvey and Minister Annie Ruth Harvey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Deacon Franklin Lee Harvey Sr., father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin Roscoe Hill Sr., and Ola Mae Hill, one brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law.

Being one of seven children, Minister Hill knew what a blessing it was to be from a big family and she made her family a priority. From fishing, traveling, and going out to eat, she loved every opportunity she got to spend time with and love on her family.

Though family was extremely important to her, nothing compared to her love and commitment to God. Minister Hill carried the Word as she ministered the Gospel. Not only did she carry the Word, she lived it. She organized the group “Jehovah Rapha” and through that group she ministered to the sick, prayed with them, and testified of the goodness of God. Her love for God was evident in the way she cared for her husband, children, and the rest of her family.

On September 2, 1968, she married the love of her life Edwin. To this union, three children were born. “Baby Doll” as she was affectionately called by Edwin, will be missed tremendously by every life that she touched.

Her memory will forever linger in the hearts of her husband of 55 years, Edwin Roscoe Hill Jr; her children, Terrance Lamont Hill, Edwina Rosjohonne Hill, and Melinda Chante’ Hill-Wooten (husband, Rodney); grandchildren, Jaleesa Marie Hill, Chantrice Renee Adams (husband, Tiawan), Rodney Wooten Jr, Rodneysha Chante’ Wooten, Metrell Chaquan Wooten, Meleysha Channe’ Wooten, Ryan Caleb Wooten, Mariyah Chanel Wooten, Ramiyah Christian Wooten, Mattison Caitlin Wooten, Malachi Caelan Wooten, and Rocelyn Chrisette Wooten; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Edna Vanderhorst (husband, Johnny), Pearline Barksdale, Mary Frances Shearod, Jeanette Walker; brother, James Earl Harvey (wife, Sandra); special friend who was like a sister, Theresa Joyner; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Homegoing services will take place Monday, August 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Goldsboro Raleigh Assembly Church, located at 211 West Hooks River Road, Goldsboro with Apostle Walter Barbour officiating. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 164 Longs Plant Farm Road, Goldsboro.
