Myra Elizabeth Bass Spell

Myra Elizabeth Bass Spell

July 20, 2024, 82, Princeton —

We were not made for this Earth.

Myra B. Spell has gone home. She was surrounded by her family at her home. She loved her family, more than anything in the world. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harris “Glenn” Spell. They were married in Goldsboro on December 10, 1960. She is also survived by her four daughters, Debbie Smith (Mark), Dee Rook (Kevin), Marcie Lane (James), Angie Hinson (David), and one son, Harris “Buddy” Spell Jr. (Melissa) as well as her four-legged companion, Cody Joe Spell.

She was a beloved Mema by her eleven grandchildren, Nikki Griffith (Zac), Samantha Grady (Anthony), Alyssa Wallace (Rusty), Hunter Hinson (Allison), Christopher Lane, Myra McCullen (Tyler), Diana Barela (Bobby), Dillon Smith, Ashlynn Thompson (Trevor), Payton Lane, Jacob Hinson and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob and Charlie Griffith, Josie Brady, Pierson Grady, Conley Wallace, Trenton and Elora Hinson, Allie McCullen and one on the way, Wesley Thompson. She loved them very much and prayed for them one by one every single day. She is at peace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Rosalie Bass, and sister, Norma Bass.

Myra loved a good book, crossword puzzles, coffee in a teacup, playing the piano, the St. Louis Cardinals, and her years spent at the beach almost as much as she loved her Lord and Savior. Sitting on her porch watching the birds is where she found peace and felt closest to God.

As she so simply wrote, “So, my life story is a story of a girl on her path to heaven.”

The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Gentiva Hospice Care and Evergreen Memorial Service for their kindness and care.

A private memorial service will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
