Hugh Franklin Davis, 90, stepped into his eternal reward on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. Born in Saluda County, South Carolina on August 6, 1933, he was the son of the late Enoch Bentley Davis and Nancy Lee Turner Davis.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 19, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Graveside services will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Blytheville, AK.
Hugh chose to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1953. During his 28 years, which he proudly served, he was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired in 1981 achieving the rank of SMSGT.
Hugh was a man who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of his church, Jordan’s Chapel Baptist Church.
Hugh had a love for travel and made friends everywhere he went. He also enjoyed gospel singing, softball, baseball, and bowling.
Hugh is survived by his daughter, Dawn Throm (Mark); his son, Darrell Davis (Linda); his stepchildren, Sandy Brown (Bill), Sharon Davis (Donald), Tina Godsey (Tracy) and Eugene Cleveland. Hugh had 20 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren. And his special friends that he considered family Floyd and Bambi Shrum.
In addition to his parents, Hugh was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his children, Janice Mosteller Davis, and his second wife, Ellen Cleveland Davis; son Terry Davis; daughter, Nancy Marie Davis; and a great-grandson, Treach Williams.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for memorial donations to be given to Jordan’s Chapel Baptist Church in Mount Olive, NC.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service and Cobb Funeral Home in Blytheville, AK.
