Joseph Buckley delivered the game-winning hit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning as Wayne County Post 11 defeated Pitt County Post 39 6-5 at Carolina Athletic Park on Wednesday night to complete a sweep in the Area I East finals.

Buckley’s walk-off hit scored pinch-runner Casey Culbreth as Wayne County advanced to the state tournament.

Post 11 (30-8) hosts an opponent to be determined on Monday evening to determine seeding in the North Carolina American Legion State Tournament, which begins July 20 in Cherryville.
