Douglas M. Coker, 71 of the Dudley area, passed away just minutes before noon on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, while being cared for at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

He had been a dump truck driver, having hauled for a sand and gravel company, and also a concrete company.  In recent years had been a newspaper carrier for Goldsboro News-Argus.

Doug, as he was called, is survived by his long-time partner, Christine Boley, of the home; two daughters, Felicia Brogden and husband, Tracy, of Mount Olive, and Angie Williams and husband, A. J.., of Goldsboro; a son, Danny Davis and wife, Nikki, of South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Myers of Mount Olive, and Carolyn Mitchell and husband, Ronnie, of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Coker Guy; his father, Dave Myers; and his step-father, Donald “Skeeter” Guy.

His life will be remembered on Monday, July 1, at Tyndall Funeral Home.  A visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 3 p.m., officiated by the Rev. Jeff Dail, followed by burial at Seven Springs Methodist Church Cemetery, “on the hill” in Seven Springs.

In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorial gifts be made to Kitty Askins Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro NC 27534.
